THE WINERY

The Josef Leberl winery - a family run business for generations - cultivates 22 hectares of vineyards in the Burgenland.

THE VINEYARDS

The vineyards wind themselves around the market village of Großhöflein. Soils of black earth, loam, light brown earth, shell limestone, mica slate and lime rock on the sunny southern hillsides of the LEITHAGEBIRGE and the FÖLLIGBERG are the perfect basis for our wines. Our vineyard locations are among the best in the Burgenland.

THE WINES

The Leberl family business produces delicately fruity wines with structure, finesse and plenty potential. The terroir can be rediscovered in the unmistakable character of the wines. Many various soils in different locations allow for a range of varieties. Both white wine varieties such as Welschriesling,
Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Sämling, as well as red wine varieties like Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon have optimum conditions.

PECCATUM

The most prominent red wine of the Leberl house bears the name PECCATUM [lat. "the sin"]. Such great red wines can only be produced through rigorous crop reduction - generous thinning of the grapes in August is necessary. "That's a sin!" warned our forefathers. The result proved our point! And with that we can guarantee 20 years of drinking pleasure for our top red wine.
